Void Visionaries presents : An online talk with artist Eimear Murphy on Thursday 13th January at 5pm.

As part of our Void Visionaries programme (Void’s youth programme), we are inviting artists to speak about their practice. The talks are aimed at 14-24 year olds and give an insight into an artist who is working on the island of Ireland today.

We are delighted to welcome Eimear Murphy (@the_eimearmurphy) as our next artist in the series. Eimear is a visual and tactile artist who creates sculpture with both visual and touch based access.

Eimear graduated from The National College of Art and Design in 2015, and was awarded the Fire Station Artist’s Studios graduate residency. She then received a landmark sculpture commission from Dublin Port. Entitled ‘Drop’, this work is on permanent public display in Dublin Port’s Sculpture Garden. Eimear received the Arts Council’s prestigious Next Generation Award (2018) and presented her first solo exhibition ‘SHAPE, HEAP. thing’ in Droichead Arts Centre (2018). In 2020 Eimear exhibited as part of the 3-person exhibitions ‘Lace Paint Hair’ at The National Gallery of Ireland and ‘Less Stress More Success’ Kilkenny Arts Office Gallery. She was invited to exhibit at 190th RHA Annual (2020). Eimear’s works are also held in the collection of OPW, Dublin Port and The Collection of the Arts Council of Ireland.

Eimear is currently studying a Masters with Goldsmiths, University of London, where her research is focused on pedagogy and the arts. With the support of the Arts Councils Young Peoples, Children and Education Bursary Eimear is creating works which examine how we can engage with materials while living remote lives.
