Void Gallery is delighted to announce Sara Bint Moneer Khan as their new Head of Public Programmes.
On her new position, Sara said: “I am excited by this new chapter at Void and in Northern Ireland. And look forward to becoming a part of the communities that Void serves.”
Sara Bint Moneer Khan is an independent curator, creative producer, and writer from London who has been living and working in Cape Town since 2015 until now. She has a Bachelor’s (Hons) degree in Curating from Central St Martins, University of the Arts, and a Masters degree in History of Art and Archaeology of the Islamic Near and Middle East (SOAS, London). She is currently working on her doctorate in Technology and Innovation Management. Her thesis focuses on integral approaches to art advocacy and visual literacy among Cape Town’s Muslim communities.
She is the founder of MASHŪRAH ARTS, a curatorial, research development incubator, and art collective; an initiative for collaborating, developing, and disseminating art practices with an emphasis on Islam in Africa.
She has previously worked for Bonham’s, Edge of Arabia, The British Arab Centre, The Ismaili institute, Art Africa magazine, Gallery MOMO and Jaffer Modern Gallery.
Her research interests include artistic and cultural exchange between Muslim civilisations and the West and diasporic communities, Near and Middle Eastern knowledge systems, access and engagement with Historical, Modern, and Contemporary art, and Art & Tech.
