Void x NIMHAF 2022

We are delighted to be taking part in this year’s NI Mental Health Arts Fest, with a range of activities for adults and children. See below for a full programme of activities taking place at Void Gallery during the 9th – 15th May.

The Kitchen Table: Creative Writing Workshops

10 May, 6.30pm-8pm

13 May, 6.30pm-8pm


Void are delighted to be holding more Creative Writing workshops with Mel Bradley.


Taking inspiration from Mel’s poem ‘The Kitchen Table’, participants will explore the theme of NIMHAF ‘Gather’ through engaging prompts and actvities. Tea and cakes will be provided.

Explorative Drawing with Zoe McSparron

12 May, 6-7.30pm


In this workshop, discover and create your own layered images with artist Zoe McSparron by responding to objects in Void’s current exhibition, BLACK MED SECCO by Invernomuto, through various different explorative drawing and composition techniques.

Void Tots

13 May, 10.30 – 11.10 / 11.30 – 12.10


Our Tots sessions return to Void in May! These sessions are a great way for guardians and their little ones to get involved with some messy, sensory play. The relaxed and fun sessions are guided by artist Sinead Crumlish.

Drop in Family workshop with Zoe McSparron

14 May – 12-4pm


Join us for a drop in session where parents and their children can participate in a range of creative activities together. Artist Zoe McSparron will be on hand to help guide you through a range of activities from creating junk sculptures to exploring bricolage.  


No booking required, just turn up!

Art packs

Three fun art packs will be available for NIMHAF! These can be sent out or collected at the gallery and will be available from the 4th of May – just in time for the festival! To get a free art pack, send an email to hello@derryvoid.com with Art Pack in the subject line.


The Art Packs are:


  • Make your own bird feeder

Attract birds to your yard or garden with this easy to make bird feeder! Each pack comes with a packet of bird feed and a short description of some common birds that all the family can spot.


  • Rag Weaving with material from Derry’s old shirt factories 

This is a wonderful activity for groups. Using materials from the old shirt factories, you can create your own table mat while having a chat with friends.
